Body & Face St Cyrus believes that beauty should be cruelty free. We are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements.

All of our own brand cosmetic and personal care products are approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products. We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited.

Cruelty Free International are an animal rights advocacy group who campaign to put an end to animal experiments. They explain:

“Cruelty Free International works to end animal experiments worldwide. We do this by investigating and exposing the reality of life for animals in laboratories. We challenge decision-makers to make a difference for animals. And we champion better science and cruelty free living.”

To do this, Cruelty Free International does a number of things:

  • Organise campaigns to help animals that are trapped in scientific and cosmetic experimentation.

  • Investigate ongoing animal testing. This is important because animal experimentation is a secretive business and it can be difficult for campaigners and advocates to get accurate information regarding the scale of animal testing.

  • Encourage decision-makers to make ending animal testing a high priority.

  • Champion better science. The reliability of results achieved through animal testing has been brought into question in recent years, which begs the question as to why science still values it. Additionally, there are now alternative methods of investigating the safety and efficacy of products without testing on animals.

  • Some 3.06 million procedures were carried out in 2021; an increase of 6% over 2020. Follow the Target Zero campaign.

Leaping Bunny Approval

Cruelty Free International approval that lets you know which of your favourite brands are 'cruelty free'. This essentially means that you can rest assured that brands are doing all they can to remove animal testing throughout their supply chain.

To become Leaping Bunny Approved brands must:

  • Implement a fixed cut-off date. This essentially means that the brand does not use ingredients that have been tested on animals after the cut off date. Cruelty Free International Recommend 11th of March 2013 as the cut-off date, however at Body & Face St Cyrus It is worth pointing out that no animal testing has been carried out on behalf of Body & Face since 1994!

  • Commit to monitoring the supply chain to ensure that animal testing does not take place anywhere along the line.

  • Check all stages of the supply chain for animal testing. This includes everything from the ingredients going into products, manufacturers, suppliers and laboratories.

  • Agree to ongoing independent checks to make sure the brand is sticking to its promise of being cruelty free. We have a well-developed Supplier Monitoring System.
